Recent years have seen a lot of interest in Copper Indium Gallium Selenium (CIGS) based solar cells for use in solar energy conversion [1, [2], [3], [4]].These devices comprises a CIGS absorbing material sandwiched between a conductive and reflective Mo back contact, window layers of ZnO and Al-doped ZnO, and a buffer layer of CdS [5, 6].Each of …
All organisms, which depend on molybdenum, need to acquire the oxyanion molybdate as the only source of molybdenum from the external medium. In prokaryotes, oxyanion molybdate enters into the cells through the action of proteins belonging to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters family [26], [27], [28].In contrast to bacteria, molybdate transport …
Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted widespread attention because of their remarkable efficiency, low cost, and ease of fabrication. However, the operational stability of the PSCs still suffers from the corrosion of metal electrodes induced by metal-halide reactions. Herein, we propose a feasible strategy for improving the stability of inverted PSCs by using …

Salinity gradient (SG) energy is a large untapped energy source available worldwide. Here we applied MoS 2 with tunable interlayer spacing to a concentration flow cell for efficient SG energy recovery. By expanding the interlayer from 0.63 nm to 0.96 nm, the ion diffusion resistance was significantly reduced and the pseudocapacitance was largely promoted.

Here we discuss that taking advantage of the mechanical flexibility of two dimensional (2D) materials by rolling their Van der Waal heterostructures such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS2)/graphene (Gr)/hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) to a spiral solar cell, leads to strong light matter interaction allowing for solar absorptions up to 90%.
Moreover, the atomic stoichiometric ratio between sulfur and molybdenum elements is estimated from the respective integrated peak area of XPS to be ~2.0. Those results indicate that the as-synthesized hybrid spiral-like MoS 2 is composed only of sulfur and molybdenum species, in accordance with ordinary monolayer MoS 2.
In order to gain biological activity, Mo has to be complexed by a pterin compound thereby forming the molybdenum cofactor (Moco). In this article review, we will review and follow the way that Mo takes from uptake into the cell, via formation of the Moco and its storage, to the final modification of Moco and its insertion into apo-metalloenzymes.
Ammonia (NH 3) is an important chemical for the agriculture and the industry. 1–4 The annual production of NH 3 is more than 150 million tons, with most used to produce fertilizers. 5, 6 NH 3 is also a promising hydrogen …
With the steady increase of molybdenum demand worldwide and the favorable molybdenum market, many technological innovations on both process and equipment have been developed and applied in many modern molybdenum plants around the world. This paper introduces the most commonly used molybdenum flotation flowsheet, together with the introduction of the …
The way that Mo takes from uptake into the cell, via formation of the molybdenum cofactor and its storage, up to the final insertion of the pterin cofactor into apometalloenzymes is reviewed. The transition element molybdenum (Mo) is an essential micronutrient that is needed as catalytically active metal during enzyme catalysis. In humans four enzymes depend on Mo: …

This study aimed to investigate the cytotoxicity and pro-inflammatory responses induced by tungsten disulphide (WS 2 ) and molybdenum disulphide (MoS 2 ) nanoparticles (NPs) in human bronchial cells (BEAS-2B). For cytotoxicity assessment, the cells were exposed to different concentrations (2.5–200 µg/mL) of WS 2 -NPs or MoS 2 -NPs for 24 and 48 h and then the …
The hole transport layer (HTL) affects the device performance and stability of organic solar cells. In this work, a stable molybdenum oxide (MoOx) hole transport layer with low cost was prepared by adjusting the state of the precursor solution with an alcoholic solution of molybdenum acetylacetonate through an oxidant. The MoOx transport layer has good …
Substituting the doped amorphous silicon films at the front of silicon heterojunction solar cells with wide-bandgap transition metal oxides can mitigate parasitic light absorption losses. This was recently proven by replacing p-type amorphous silicon with molybdenum oxide films. In this article, we evidence that annealing above 130 °C—often needed for the curing of printed metal …
